Last Thursday, May 14th I had the pleasure of participating in a series of lectures at Vergennes UHS. Jake Sattelmair, PhD candidate with the Harvard School of Public Health, presented research published in "SPARK" - by Dr. John Ratey. We were joined by teachers, administrators, parents and Vermont Department of Education staff. I think all will agree that the research application is clear: we must increase physical activity to enhance student learning. I hope this spark ignites a fire of physical activity in our Vermont schools. Interventions do not have to be costly in either funds or time and our students will benefit. Success depends on sharing ideas and successful strategies.
What is your school doing to increase physical activity and improve academic performance?
